Global DOT & Hazardous Materials Compliance Manager

This position plans, directs and manages the DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation programs under direction of the Chief Health, Safety & Environment Officer. It recognizes, evaluates, recommends and implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation requirements of the organization. It reviews and incorporates DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation regulations promulgated by regulatory authorities, and ensures that quality control procedures are established to monitor all aspects of those regulations. The position provides all necessary reports to Federal, State, and local agencies within the scope of hazardous materials transportation. It directs audits of DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation programs to identify and control significant liability exposure. The Global DOT & HAZMAT Compliance Manager must keep fully informed on all existing and proposed changes in DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation regulations. It develops and provides basic DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation programs for employees, and promotes communication programs to enhance and encourage employee awareness of DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation regulations. It directs consulting and administrative personnel within the Corporate Health, Safety, and Environmental function of the organization. It provides leadership direction in DOT and Global Hazardous Materials Transportation to management and professional personnel of the business units. This position also acts as the R&D Operations HSE Manager who is responsible for implementing health safety and environmental compliance programs. The position also is an integral team member assisting in health safety and environmental aspects of new product development/commercialization for STERIS.
