EU Compliance Specialist – Dangerous goods and substances (m/f)

We are seeking candidates to fill our EU Compliance Specialist – Dangerous goods and substances (m/f) position located in our EU Headquarters in Luxembourg.

The position will be responsible for the safe management in our supply chain of consumer goods classed as dangerous goods as per the European Agreement for the Transport of Dangerous Goods per Road (ADR) and according to local and internal work safety and storage regulations relating to dangerous substances.

This person will report into the EU Product Compliance Manager and will be responsible for driving our current safety and quality processes to even higher levels of performance. The primary area of responsibility will be working with the EU Product Compliance Manager, EU retail teams, our carriers and warehouses as well as vendors to ensure all Amazon products meet applicable EU dangerous goods and storage requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Product set-up and approval: Work with category buyers to ensure hazmat ASINs are properly set up in the internal system and that only those products are being sourced that comply with the Amazon hazmat management program;
  • Tracking and reporting: Maintain and improve database and tracking system for all hazmat product sold by Amazon EU – develop a metrics and reporting system for hazmat and fulfill reporting requirements as demanded by local law;
  • Transportation: serve as main point of contact for carriers in any issues relating to hazmat carriage; ensure goods are labeled in accordance with dangerous goods transport regulations and documentation is provided to carriers as agreed in contracts;
  • FC Safety management (transportation issues): ensure internal hazmat safety requirements relating to in/outbound, labeling are being adhered to; support FC Health and Safety in the safe management of dangerous substances storage and waste treatment;
  • Documentation: manage and maintain internal Material Safety Data Sheet database
  • Manage relationship with dangerous goods specialists of vendors and carriers, as well as authorities; clarify Amazon regulatory compliance and quality expectations, standards, process and forward any relevant SOPs; communicate program changes; resolve issues between Amazon, vendors and authorities
  • Training: ensure all stakeholders (buying, FC staff) are regularly trained and updated as per internal and local regulatory requirements.
  • Audit/safety incident management: Audit the hazmat program and the compliance with this program in FCs (this includes inspecting FCs as necessary); report on accidents and other safety issues as required by Amazon and in accordance with local law.
  • Acquire (if not already done so) training as a qualified EU Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser; advise business and keep up to date with legal changes and latest developments in the area of dangerous goods transportation and work safety related to dangerous substances.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates should have an university degree in business: supply chain management, transportation, logistics, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in dangerous goods transportation and/or dangerous substances storage regulations either for a carrier/retailer or in a warehouse operation
  • Valid EU Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor qualification an asset, but not essential
  • Previous work experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English
