At Amazon, Safety is our number one concern both for our employees and for our customers. We are currently seeking candidates to fill our North America Product Compliance Manager position located in Seattle.
With explosive growth in product types offered for sale and fulfillment throughout North America (including hazardous materials as defined by the D.O.T), Amazon.com is looking for a manager to oversee our North American operations within the Global Product Compliance Group. This person will have responsibility to drive enhancements to the policies, procedures, processes and accompanying software which ensures products are stored and shipped in accordance with local, state, federal and international regulations. The end result will be a system to seamlessly integrate regulated products into Amazon.com front end website and back-end fulfillment services. Responsibilities also include the management and improvement of our product safety recall system to ensure the continued safety of our customers. This system has received kudos from customers and government officials alike.
Areas of responsibility include:
Coordinate all hazardous material and product safety recall activities in North America to assure compliance with all federal and state regulatory requirements. This includes the development of new procedures or the improvement of existing ones. Other responsibilities include:
*Develop and manage software solutions to assist in identifying and classifying hazardous materials.
*Manage the Amazon Hazardous Materials Training Program.
*Identify and report general compliance issues that may arise through the work process; write and revise standard operating procedures.
*Review technical publications, articles and abstracts to stay abreast of current regulations and trends, ensure appropriate actions are taken and communicated to all parties involved when necessary.
*Work in conjunction with the Amazon.com Legal, Transportation and Product Compliance teams to ensure the most up to date compliance with all US governed regulatory agencies is met (DOT, CSPC, FDA, Etc.)
*Manage the Amazon Material Safety Data Sheet program.
*Manage a Product Safety Specialist responsible for the U.S. recall process.
*Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or public administration, and 3+ years of experience in retail regulatory compliance management with government agencies (DOT, FTC, CPSC, FDA).
*Previous work experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.
*Knowledge/experience directly related to hazardous materials and product safety recalls.
*Knowledge/experience directly related to regulatory compliance.
Familiarity with typical software packages (Microsoft Suite including Access) is a must.
*Project management and solid communication skills are also a must.
*Some travel is required.
