D&H Specialist
APL

Position Summary
The D&H Specialist will be accountable for ensuring APL's hazardous material policies and procedures are followed. Duties include reviewing customer
documents for compliance with national and international regulations, managing hazardous material incidents and resourcing for technical and hazardous
materials questions from internal and external customers.
Accountabilities
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Review customer's hazardous material documents to confirm compliance with national and international regulations.
- Manage hazardous material incidents.
- Answer technical questions.
- Work with programmers on current HAZMAT issues that impact IT systems.
- Work closely with other departments resolve issue that arise when moving hazardous materials (rail billing, port operations, network, vessel captains)
- Provide input to manager on policies and procedures.
- Provide input to manager on proposed national and international regulations impacting the company.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or comparable work experience
- 2 years or more experience with hazardous materials or equivalent regulations
- 4 years or more experience in transportation operations
