Marketing Communications Specialist

APL Logistics is looking for a Marketing Communications Specialist with top-notch writing, editing and design management skills to join our Corporate Marketing Team.

Reporting to the Manager of Marketing Communications, the position will develop and deploy presentations, brochures, data sheets, customer newsletters, case studies, and other electronic and print materials. A strong focus will be on developing and managing content for internal and external APL Logistics website properties, including the external web site and internal web portals.

APL Logistics provides international, end-to-end logistics services for global customers employing the latest IT and data connectivity for maximum supply-chain visibility and control. Based in Oakland, California, APL Logistics is a unit of U.S. $7.27 billion Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), and sister company to APL, a global provider of container transportation services.

The Marketing Communications Specialist will have primary responsibility to manage the creation, design and update the sales/marketing collateral and other business content — this includes managing external vendors who perform the graphic design function.  This position will ensure online content is current, aligns with, and supports overall strategic marketing objectives; act as primary liaison between web content owners, including company functions, lines of business, and regions and the IT technical team.  Responsible to support continuous improvement of website design and functionality, including enhancements to navigation, taxonomy, nomenclature and UI.  To provide writing and editing support for web and print content, including data sheets, case studies, success stories, brochures and PowerPoint presentations.  This position also supports tradeshow planning and presence by identifying opportunities, coordinating internal support and providing logistics support; and ensures all deliverables meet brand and corporate identity standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience 
  • 2-5 years hands-on experience in collateral and web content development
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing persuasively for a B2B audience.
  • Familiarity with web marketing-related concepts and best practices
  • Experience implementing marketing communications methodologies and practices
  • Knowledge of Software / Programming — Adobe Creative Suite 2, Dreamweaver, Sharepoint and WebSphere
  • Creative thinker with an eye for design and supreme attention to detail

Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Experience with Macromedia Flash, Photoshop, and Adobe lllustrator
  • Knowledge of AP and Chicago editorial style
  • Experience in logistics, transportation and supply chain management a plus
