Mike Morrissette joined DGAC in 1995 as Director of Technical Services and was elected Vice President in 2002. He was elected President in 2005 following Al Roberts' 5-year tenure. His principal activities within DGAC are administration of the Council, monitoring U.S. regulatory developments affecting the transport of hazardous materials and representing DGAC at international meetings concerning dangerous goods transport. He also serves on the international scientific advisory body GESAMP (Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Environmental Protection). Mike is the staff liaison to DGAC's International Regulatory Committee (INTEREC).

Mike's previous work experience was with the U.S. Coast Guard in various positions involving regulations development for the maritime transport of hazardous materials. During his tenure with the Coast Guard, he served as Vice Chairman of IMO's Bulk Liquids and Gases Sub-Committee. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin and a Master's degree in Health Science from the Johns Hopkins University. Mike is a graduate of the Coast Guard's Officer Candidate School and served four years on active duty as a Commissioned Officer.
